A Bromoil print is one in which the original B&W silver bromide image is chemically removed from the paper and replaced with a stiff oil pigment creating a beautiful etched like quality. A wide variety of creative interpretations may be achieved through working and reworking the ink. The workshop will be of interest to photographers who wish to depart from conventional B&W printing and explore the potential of this rare photographic process.
Bromoil printing itself has dramatically changed since David first picked up a Sinclair's hog hair brush some 38 plus years ago! Today the process includes the digital darkroom to create master digital negatives for bromoil printing. Whether you shoot with traditional black and white film or with a digital camera, enhancing the image in Photoshop opens up a tremendous new frontier. The possibilities are almost endless and only limited by the imagination!
This intensive workshop is dedicated to the black and white photographer who wishes to acquire the traditional old master's technique of learning one of the most beautiful early 20th century historic pigment processes.
